How man beat his son to death over missing N3,000
Residents of Amadi-Ama, a suburb of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, could not be consoled as tears flew freely on them as a middle-aged man, identified as Amadi, lifted the lifeless body of his seven-year-old boy from the ground where he subjected him to a long torturous beating until he died.
The deceased was alleged to have not been able to account for N3,000 that his dad asked him to keep in his custody on Friday.

It was learnt that some neighbours, who had come for the boy’s rescue from his his angry father were rebuffed by the man, who vowed that his son would either produce the money or meet his early grave.
An eye witness account recalled that one of the neighbours had run to the shop of the boy’s mother, but before she could be located the boy had given up the ghost.
But another account had it that the incident, occurred on Saturday at about 12.30am, after the boy had failed to carry out his father’s instruction.
When efforts by neighbours to revive the young Amadi failed, the police were called in to arrest the errant father of the boy.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident and said that the father of the deceased had since been arrested.
“Yes, I think there was a misunderstanding between the boy and his father before the man began to beat the son until he (son) died,” a lady co-tennant told our correspondent.
The co-tennant, however, disclosed that if Amadi had listened to his neighbours’ advice, he would not have made the mistake that has seen him in the present situation.
